Ivan Rakowsky began his riding career at the young age of six in his hometown of Mexico City, Mexico. Growing up, Ivan competed successfully on the national circuit in Mexico before moving to the United States to start his own training and sales business.
He began competing at the grand prix level in 1996, and since has represented Mexico in numerous international competitions including Nations Cup competition. He has also served as Chef d’Equip for a vast number of Mexican teams, including North American Junior and Young Rider Championships and the silver medal Nations Cup effort in Wellington in 2008.
Ivan coaches top grand prix competitors at high level events, including the FEI World Cup Finals in 2011 in Leipzig, Germany and in 2012 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. He also trains top level hunter and jumper champions, in addition to equitation finalists, including the 2011 Grappa Award Winner at the USET East Coast Finals.
His show schedule often includes stops along some of the most prestigious European and North American show tours, which has made him a respected coach, trainer, and horseman around the world.
Through the years he has become an important consultant and aide in the purchase of many well known international show jumpers, top hunters and equitation horses. In addition, he has imported many horses that have gone on to become well-known hunter, equitation, and jumper champions.
Along with Ivan’s passion for developing top show horses, he succeeds in developing professionals, and young riders and amateurs of all levels into top level competitors on the international stage.
In addition to his training and riding successes, Ivan believes in being a part of, and giving back to, the equestrian industry. He is a licensed official, hunter and equitation judge, and is highly involved with USEF and USHJA committees, including the Young Rider Task Force.
